The staff accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring accuracy of accounting data, and performing various accounting tasks like data entry, account reconciliation, and analysis, all while adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to support a company's financial reporting and compliance needs. Working closely with the controller and accounting team, the staff accountant must ensure that the organizations finance run smoothly and ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner, while commanding accounting systems and process with detailed, accurate and up-to-date information. They will be an excellent communicator, not only with the accounting team, but also with the greater organization at large. This role is a hybrid position that will work from home as well as the our admin building located at 4551 Parks West Rd. Middlefield OH.
Duties/Responsibilities
Reconciles bank accounts at least daily, verifies deposits, and withdrawals from account.
Performs AP activities including entering invoices, making payments, and communicating with vendors
Performs AR activities including invoicing customers, applying payments, and collection communications
Performs GL activities including journal entries and reconciliations
Performs Payroll duties, including processing payroll and ensuring funds reach appropriate end users
Performs Sales Order Entry duties including entering orders into ERP system.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of general financial accounting - with exposure to AP, AR, Payroll.
Operational accounting like sales orders and costing is a plus.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Experience with Sage and Netsuite is a plus.
