Overview About Us We are a multi-state law firm dedicated to representing clients in Social Security Disability and Veterans Compensation claims, with a strong emphasis on federal appellate litigation. Our attorneys advocate for clients throughout all stages of the appeals process, including proceedings in the United States District Courts. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Federal Court Paralegal to support our appellate team in delivering high-quality legal representation to individuals navigating complex federal systems. Position Overview The Federal Court Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys handling federal appeals in Social Security Disability and Veterans Compensation cases. This role involves legal research, preparation and filing of court documents, client communication, and administrative case management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of federal civil procedure, to be highly organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines with precision. Responsibilities Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and motions, ensuring full compliance with federal rules and local civil procedures. File documents electronically through Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system across multiple federal district courts. Maintain direct communication with clients to obtain information, provide case updates, and address inquiries professionally and empathetically. Liaise with court personnel, U.S. Attorney’s offices, and other legal professionals to coordinate case matters and resolve procedural issues. Manage and organize digital and physical case files, including tracking deadlines, correspondence, and court filings. Assist in preparing exhibits, tables of contents, tables of authorities, and other filing materials. Stay informed of changes in federal and local court rules to ensure ongoing procedural compliance. Coordinate with third-party vendors for printing, binding, and mailing of required hard-copy court submissions. Track attorney requirements, such as CLE credits and bar dues. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Qualifications Education: Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field, or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal, with strong preference for candidates with federal litigation exposure. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneDrive). Experience with CM/ECF and other federal court electronic filing systems. Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of federal court procedures, local rules, and civil litigation processes. Core Competencies: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail and editing/proofreading abilities; Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict Deadlines; Professional demeanor with the ability to communicate with empathy and respect. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in handling Social Security Disability and/or Veterans Compensation claims; Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw); Experience drafting and editing legal briefs, pleadings, and court filings.
