Summary:

As a Commercial Painting Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately evaluating project costs and providing detailed estimates for commercial painting projects by examining structures, analyzing project plans, determining necessary materials and labor, and providing detailed cost estimates to potential clients, often collaborating with contractors and property managers to secure painting contracts. Your core skills in construction estimating and cost control will be essential in ensuring competitive pricing and effective budget management. Additionally, your relevant experience in construction management and contracts will support the successful execution of projects, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of our organization.

Only experienced painting estimators will be considered . This position is open to full-time work only.

 

Key responsibilities of a paint estimator:

· Site visits:

Conducting on-site inspections of buildings to assess painting needs, including surface conditions, accessibility, and potential challenges.

· Project analysis:

Reviewing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand the scope of work.

· Cost calculations:

Estimating the required materials (paint, primer, etc.) and labor hours based on project details.

· Preparing estimates:

Creating detailed cost breakdowns including labor costs, materials, and any additional fees, presenting them to clients in a clear and

professional format.

· Client communication:

Consulting with clients to understand their needs, addressing questions about the estimate, and negotiating pricing.

· Bidding process:

Submitting competitive bids to secure painting contracts.

· Sales support:

Promoting company services and building relationships with potential clients.

 

Required skills of a paint estimator:

· Technical knowledge:

Thorough understanding of painting techniques, surface preparation methods, and different types of paint.

 

· Measurement skills:

Precise ability to measure surfaces and calculate paint quantities

· Blueprint reading:

Interpreting architectural drawings and plans to accurately assess project requirements

· Cost estimating expertise:

Calculating labor costs, material costs, and overall project budget

· Customer service skills:

Effectively communicating with clients, addressing concerns, and building rapport

· Salesmanship:

Presenting estimates in a persuasive manner to close deals

 

Typical work environment:

· Office-based with frequent site visits to potential painting projects

· Will involve travel to meet clients and visit job sites

· Regular interaction with clients, contractors, suppliers and field team

Requirements:

· Be able to provide samples

· Experience in commercial painting estimation

· Proficiency in computer skills

· Strong Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, data analysis, revising spreadsheets, problem-solving,

and critical thinking)

· Effective communication skills

· Great organizational skills

· Excellent people skills

· Reliable and able to work independently
