Position Overview Assistant Performance/Sport Science Coach at 23XI Racing . In this role, you support the development and execution of comprehensive training programs designed to enhance the strength, conditioning, agility, and overall athletic performance of pit crew athletes under the direction of the Head of Athletic Performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Head Performance Coach in developing and delivering structured strength, conditioning, speed, and agility programs tailored to pit crew athletes and their specific positions. Lead and assist with daily workouts, warm‑ups, mobility routines, and recovery sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and athlete engagement. Record, track, and analyze athlete performance data (e.g., strength testing, movement assessments, conditioning metrics) to evaluate progress and adjust programming as needed. Collaborate with athletic trainers and medical staff to monitor athlete health, implement corrective exercises, and support safe return‑to‑play protocols. Work one‑on‑one with athletes to improve movement quality, positional performance, and overall athletic capacity. Maintain training spaces, organize equipment, and ensure all performance tools and technologies are in working order. Support post‑training recovery initiatives (e.g., mobility work, hydration, recovery monitoring) and reinforce nutrition and wellness education as directed by the performance staff. Assist with maintaining athlete profiles, updating performance databases, and generating reports for coaches and management. Communicate regularly with the head coach, pit crew coach, and performance team regarding athlete progress, attendance, and program updates. Educate athletes on proper nutrition, hydration, and recovery techniques. Stay current with industry trends, sports science research, and performance training methodologies relevant to motorsport athletes. Promote a spirit of unity and teamwork within the department and the company while challenging performance barriers and improving overall team performance and reliability. Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers and partners who provide services to 23XI Racing’s pit crew department. Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within NASCAR. Ensure equitable treatment of employees in disciplinary actions and employment activities. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Required Skills, Experience and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Performance, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Current certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., CSCS – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, SCCC – Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified, or equivalent). CPR certification preferred. 1–3 years of experience assisting or leading strength and conditioning programs, preferably with collegiate, professional, or tactical athletes. Experience in position‑specific athletic development, agility training, or sport performance preferred. Familiarity with data collection technologies (e.g., timing gates, force plates, GPS, or athlete monitoring systems) a plus. Experience in motorsport, tactical, or team‑sport environments strongly preferred but not required. Strong understanding of strength training, movement mechanics, energy systems, and recovery principles. Ability to demonstrate and teach proper lifting and movement techniques safely and effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for motivating athletes and collaborating with staff. High attention to detail in data tracking, session setup, and athlete monitoring. Ability to adapt and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Professional demeanor, punctuality, and strong organizational skills. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within a high‑performance team setting. Ability to demonstrate exercises, lift weights (up to 50 lbs), and actively participate in training sessions. Willingness to work non‑traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the team schedule. Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office suite. Ability to identify and propose solutions to complex issues. Passion and focus to think strategically while enabling operations. Ability to drive execution and results. Ability to lead teams and generate a spirit of cooperation.
