This is an Air National Guard Title 32 excepted service position. This National Guard position is for an Airplane Flight Instructor (Title 32), Air Position Description Number NGD2045P01 and is part of the TN 118th Wing, Air National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization. Responsibilities include administering combat flight training to military aircrews, instructing and evaluating pilots through a broad training spectrum, performing pilot duties, and assessing instructors, pilots, sensor operators, and mission coordinators. The incumbent maintains a thorough knowledge of airplane systems and procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions. The position also involves serving as the Air Operations Officer's representative in various capacities and performing work in areas such as standardization/evaluation, weapons and tactics, training, scheduling, plans, safety, and inspector general. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements include military grades O-1 through O-5, compatible AFSC 11U3B/18A3B, and general experience with a competent understanding of the occupation's basic principles and concepts, as well as one year of on-the-job experience in the grade below the next higher level. Specialized experience includes at least two years in civilian or military aviation programs, aviation support facilities, or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group. The position requires experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft, reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information, supervising and conducting mission planning, and performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance. Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs, flying, explosive, and ground safety programs, and compliance with safety regulations and programs is also required. The position demands experience in planning and preparing for missions, applying operational directives, and working independently to plan and perform work assignments.
Education requirement includes FAA Certification or equivalent, and an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. Must provide transcripts or other documentation to support educational claims.
